We added a Sustainability Criteria At Affinity Wholesale of “Durability” because for us it represents an essential aspect of sustainability. Durability in products provides value for money to consumers and prevent overuse of resources and waste.

What is the Importance of Durability?

Durability is the ability to last a long time without significant deterioration. A durable material helps the environment by conserving resources and reducing wastes and the environmental impacts of repair and replacement.

Products that are made of strong materials, thus withstand loads longer than average and are very long-lasting. The longer a product lasts – the less you have to deal with the issue of recycling or disposal. And thus fewer resources are consumed.

A study by “The European Economic and Social Committee Sales” found there is an increase of up to 56% when shoppers know a product will last. The main goal was to see whether displaying a product’s lifespan would influence a consumer’s decision to purchase. In other words, would our consumption patterns change if the lifetime was indicated?

The research involved a sample of 2,917 participants from five European countries (Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Spain and the Netherlands).

The results showed that if shoppers had information on product lifespan, they would choose to buy longer lasting items: on average, a product’s sales increased by 56% if its lifetime was longer than competing products.

Durability in Hardwood Furniture and Decor

The criteria of “Durability” in Affinity Wholesale products equals better quality and is against a throwaway society trend. It can be solid hardwood furniture or wood carving decor, specifically constructed design objects or particularly robust equipped everyday products.

All of Affinity Wholesale’s wood products are made from long lasting hardwoods rather than softwood which has less durability.
